When I was 10 years old, my parents took me and my sisters to see “Cirque du Soleil”. The whole evening was jam-packed with amazing visuals, from the elaborate clown costumes to the juggler’s glittery makeup. But the one most memorable scene for me was when the trapeze artists performed their beautiful sequence.
There were both women and men on multiple swings. Their moves were so precise and graceful, and their poise relentless. They seemed to float through the air so calmly, as if wings would unfold at any moment from their bodies and carry them out of the building. I will never forget the phenomenal balance of strength, agility, and timing I witnessed that evening.
I believe that whenever we are truly touched by an experience, it’s because somehow a part of ourselves lives in it. The kid in me has wanted so badly to know what it feels like to fly through the air like that. So when I discovered a flier for Trapeze Club in New Paltz, New York, there was no doubt in my mind I had to do it. My wonderful friend Jessica was happy to accompany me on this adventure of a lifetime!
